Cooking With Pony Mama: Peanut Butter and Chocolate (or "Reese's") Cookies

Who's excited to bake some more delicious cookies? This girl right here is! Yes, this is another cooking blog post, yes, it is about cookies, and no, there are no step-by-step pictures (sorry about that, I tried to take them but they didn't turn out well *sadface*). This recipe also comes from the really really old Betty Crocker cookbook that I got from my mom who got it from her great-grandma.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 6 oz. chocolate chips (optional)
DIRECTIONS: Mix together the shortening, peanut butter, sugars, and egg thoroughly. Sift together and stir in the flour, baking powder, soda, and salt and stir the dry mixture in. Chill dough (I didn't find it necessary, but you can if you want to). Roll into balls size of large nuts. Place 3" apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Flatten with fork dipped in flour - crisscross. Bake until set.

TEMPERATURE: 375 degrees Celsius (about 190 Fahrenheit)

TIME: Bake 10 to 12 min.

AMOUNT: About 3 doz. 2 1/2" cookies

So that's it! Really simple and easy (as always), yet so delicious! All of them were gone from the cookie jar in under an hour! I will be baking some Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies tomorrow, so expect a recipe on that sometime next week :) Will also be doing a back-to-school hair tutorial tomorrow, so that should be up soon as well ;) SO PUMPED!

Liz
