Update On My Majestic Life: Back To School

I decided to type up a little update while waiting for class to start while sippin' on my water in the hallway :P Just to give you guys a little overview of what exactly is going to happen in the next couple of months.

So, school started for me yesterday - obviously - and my life already is so much busier! And the play rehearsals haven't even started :/ I get home at about 6 PM every night + homework + workout = going to bed at midnight. And waking up at 6. Every single morning. So, now I think I'll be posting every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. If nothing gets in my way >.<

But, yeah, that's what's planned for now!!!

New exciting (hopefully) post will be up this Saturday :)

Have a great Wednesday, everyone ;)

Back To School: Just a Friendly Reminder...

So this post is going to be kind of different for me - it's not going to be that long (I'll explain why) and it's going to be more of an inspiration than tips or whatever random crazy things I usually post here.

First of all, I just got back home from my first day back at school (it pretty much sucked - no one liked it, it's not just me. But I was excited to see everyone, though!) and a 4-hour shopping trip at the new mall that just recently opened in my area (it was awesome, by the way)... So, needless to say, I am pretty exhausted (oh, and I woke up at 2:30 today. AM, that is.) and I really want to just go to bed, but today is the last day of my back to school series and I couldn't not post something!

Anyway, I though this post was a very inspiration and happy post to conclude my series with, that will also leave you guys (hopefully) thinking about it for sometime. So here I will be just jotting down some little "reminders" that you maybe have never thought of, or maybe you just always forgot about them. Well, that's why they're called "reminders".

Just a friendly reminder to...

  • Take pictures. I know, this one is a bit...a bit mommy-like, but, honestly, you will never regret snapping a couple of pics with your friends! And looking back on them later is so fun! I love looking at old pictures of my friends and I, and I don't have that many, so I'm definitely going to try to do this more often.
  • Live in the moment. This sounded very much like #YOLO, but I don't see anything wrong with that! I, personally, really like that saying and live by it! I don't get it why people are hating :/ Or am I just having a blond moment? Whatever. The point is - live every day like it's your last and make the most of it. Yep.
  • Focus. This might look kind of controversial to my previous "tips" because if you live every day like it's your last, you wouldn't really focus on school work (well, I wouldn't :P). But it's not your last day. So focus on the important things in life - school, learning, getting a good education, and not making an arse out of yourself - not partying and smoking pot 24/7. I'm not saying you shouldn't have fun - just learn to prioritize.
  • Think. Especially before you speak or do something. So, so, so many times I have said something or done something stupid that I really didn't mean to do but it just came out...and made me look like a total fool. Not kidding. So. Many. Times. But I'm kind of trying to think before I actually say something now... Let's hope it works.

Sorry this was so short, but I hope you enjoyed it, nonetheless!

Liz

Back To School: 5, 10, and 15 Minute Makeup

Hey girl hey! Soooo I went to Open House in school today and saw all of my friends again, bla bla bla. Oh, I also (again) publicly humiliated myself by dropping a tray full of plates and food, and falling on the floor - twisting my ankle :/ I'd say the first unofficial day back was a success. Even though my kola buddy Andrea (I know you're reading this babe) left early :( Oh well, I'll see you tomorrow!

Anyways, I had to wake up at 5 AM today, and let me tell you, it takes me about 25 minutes to take a full shower (hair and such), and about 20 minutes to eat... And we had to leave at 6. So I totally didn't have time to do my makeup... Not that I need to wear makeup to school everyday. I really don't. I just prefer to put myself together a little before going out. Getting to the point. I just brought a little makeup bag to school with me and fixed myself up a little when I got there.

So today I decided that instead of posting a tutorial (which takes so. much. time.) I decided that it would be fun to do a post on how to do your makeup when you don't have much time. Let me explain. For example, you have 5 minutes to get ready. So you'll follow my 5 minute makeup tutorial. But then you're like, oh I have 5 more minutes to get ready. So you follow my 10 minute makeup tutorial. And then you think, well I might as well chill and just take 5 more minutes to make myself bootiful. And there you have it - my 15 minute back-to-school appropriate makeup tutorial. Cheers to back to school times.

Okaaaaay

5 MINUTES:

  • Apply tinted moisturizer for some coverage and to even out your skin tone. Pretty much all there is to it. Just apply it. And stop whining. My personal favorite tinted moisturizer (I know, I know, everyone talks about it) is the Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer. I do not own the actual product (it's pretty darn expensive for me...I already have my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua), but I've used it a couple of times and LOVED IT.
  • Whip out yo mascara to add some shabang to your average short stubby lashes (just kidding. you're lashes are beautiful). I love lengthening mascaras, and I've already told you guys all bout my favorite one in my Liz Loves post on my favorite mascara of all time - it's the Clarins Wonder Length mascara. Not gonna say much more.
  • Brows. I feel like this is kind of ignored by so many people - they'll have full-on makeup, but their brows won't be combed or anything! It drives me crazy, no offense. They make such a difference on your face, though! Just at least comb your brows if you're really in a hurry or they're already pretty dark. I comb mine through with the MAC Clear Brow Gel. Yep
10 MINUTES:
  • To add some extra coverage in problem areas (for me that's under the eyes, around my nose and on my cheeks) dot some concealer on your problem areas. I don't think I really have a favorite concealer, but the Benefit one (completely forgot what it's called!!!) is nice for under the eyes!
  • I'm all about the lips, so I probably would have put this in the 5 minute section, but whatever. Anyways, apply some lipstick/lipstain to just add a little more to your look. Recently, I've been obsessed with my MAC "Angel" lipstick (just a pinky nude - very daring, I know)... Yep.
  • Another way to add some color to your look would be using a blush. Just apply a cream blush with your fingers for a carefree and quick way to add some CABOOM to your look ;) My favorite cream blush would have to be by Shiseido, just incase you were wondering.
  • Lastly, what you can do to spice up your look some more and define your eyes is eyeliner. Whether it's colorful or just plain brown - it adds a lot! If you're in a time crunch, though, I'd recommend just using a pencil liner to line your upper lash line. I don't really have a favorite pencil eyeliner, but the MAC eye kohls are amazing!
15 MINUTES
  • To amp up your look yet another step, apply some eyeshadow on your lid and in the crease to define your eye shape even more. Nothing much I can say here... My all-time favorite favorite lid color is All That Glitters by MAC (shocker, I know), and the crease...that would have to be Buck by Urban Decay.
  • My love for the Nars Laguna bronzer is undeniable. I use it every single day (well, not when I'm chillin' at home or whatever), no joke. So, girls, when in doubt - bronze. Haha ;) Just apply it all over your face, concentrating on your temples, under your cheekbones, and down your nose.
  • Lip gloss. Love that stuff. Apply some lipgloss to top it all off - it's like the icing on the cake ;) My favorite lipgloss (BY FAR) is MAC's "Love Alert" Dazzleglass - it is quite sticky but I like sticky lip glosses :P
Okay, I really need to go now, so I hope you guys enjoyed! LOVE YOU

xoxo,
Liz

Back To School: Beauty Essentials

Honestly, with not being able to upload a tutorial because of the slow internet, I'm kind of running out of ideas for my back to school posts! Oh well. School starts tomorrow for me and, to be honest, the excitement of going back to school has seriously worn off and I'm excited to meet everyone and join the play and such, but I really don't want to start with all the homework and stress again :/ Ugh.

But, all sad thoughts aside, let's get into the fun part of back to school ;) So here I am just going to be sharing a couple of makeup products that are essential for school and for the fall time (for me, at least). Hope you guys find this somewhat helpful!

1. MAC "Amber Lights" eyeshadow I got this eyeshadow about a year ago when I was just trying to expand my MAC eyeshadow collection, and I think it was kind of a spur-of-the-moment purchase, because I only wore it a couple of times last year, but let me tell you, this year I cannot wait to use this baby until it is GONE haha ;) All it is is just a very pretty amber color, kind of shimmery... Applies very smoothly and nicely!

2. MAC Pro Longwear Lipglass in "Full Speed Ahead" I'm pretty sure you guys will be seeing quite a number of MAC products in this list, but it's only because I really love them! This lipgloss I got in the beginning of this summer and I really fell in love with it - it reminds me of Barbie every time I wear it! - but I've only worn it a couple of times... It was just a little too bright for just everyday on the beach. But I am obsessed with it now and I am sure that I'll be bringing this bad boy (or should I say girl?). This lipgloss is basically a very hot pink lipgloss with no shimmer or anything (I'd say it's a little darker than your usual hot pink). I love it!

3. Revlon ColorStay 12 Hour Eyeshadow in "01 Copper Spice" I got this quad last summer I think... I'm pretty sure you can still get it in drugstores, though! Anyways, this palette is so easy and simple to just whip out when you're getting ready for school in the morning - it includes 4 very neutral and easy-to-work-with shades. One for the lid, one for the inner corners and brow bone, one for the crease, and one for the outer-V :) I use it occasionally, but I just feel that on those mornings when you just need something very quick and easy, this is the perfect eyeshadow combo!

4. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment with SPF 15 My grandma actually got a sample of this from Sephora as her birthday present and gave it to me, so I started using it and fell in love! I use it every single day - it's very moisturizing and it makes your chapped dry lips feel silky smooth and kissable (wink wink) in an instant! The full size product is pretty pricey (I think it's a little over 30 bucks), so I'm not sure if I'll be purchasing the full size of it, but if you want to - go for it! It is amazing!

5. Prada Candy Perfume This stuff is totally amazing. To me, it kind of smells like a more sophisticated version of the Pink Sugar perfume (if you know what that smells like) - basically really sweet...like caramelized something...like caramel :P I am wearing this tomorrow (surprise surprise) and will be wearing this for a loooong time this school year ;) People always say I smell like Liz, well, this is what Liz smells like this school year.

6. Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Fast Dry Nail Color in "18 Cinna-snap" The poor little nail polish...3/4 gone and drying out. Because I love it. A lot. I swear, every single time it becomes appropriate to wear a dark burgundy shade on my nails - this baby is on 'em. This is just a total Liz fall color... I just love it!

7. OPI "Samoan Sand" My love for this nail polish sparked when I got a manicure at the mall and they used this color...and I was obsessed. The next week I ran out and got the nail polish. No regrets. Wear it all the time. Obsessed. The perfect nude color. Not enough words. Love. Love. Classy. Love.

Okie dokie, I'm pretty sure this is it! Love you guys! Have a great school year <3

Liz

Back To School: Quick and Healthy Breakfast Ideas

Hey! A little warning - I just ordered a bunch of stuff from the Lilly Pulitzer summer sale so I'm in a super good mood ;D

Anyways, I was making some homemade healthy granola earlier today and I just felt so inspired to do this blog post! This one will be all about quick and healthy breakfasts that you can easily whip up before heading out the door for school!

Before I start - a little bit on breakfasts. Breakfast should be the biggest meal of the day - and it definitely is for me! A big breakfast should include a bunch of protein and whole grains to kick start your day. These meals are super quick to make and so deliciously healthy ;)

Whole Grain Toast, Yogurt and Granola, and a Glass of Milk This is pretty much what I eat every morning - it's so fast and delicious! I normally eat what I call "breakfast bread" as the whole grain toast (I'm pretty sure you can only get it at my local store, but it's just whole wheat bread with a bunch of dried fruits and nuts inside! So good!). And while the slice of bread is in the toaster I pour some Greek yogurt into a bowl and mix in some granola (mine is usually homemade - the bonus recipe is down below! - but sometimes I buy it). Then I pour myself a glass of low fat milk and by that time the toast is usually ready. This meal is very filling and will keep you full for at least a couple of hours :)

Egg, Oatmeal, and Water This one takes a little bit longer to prepare than the last breakfast idea, but it's still only a couple of minutes! If you make the oatmeal the night before it saves you a lot of time in the morning, too! All you want to do is just make some oatmeal the night before and put it in the fridge. In the morning - boil an egg (I like mine soft-boiled - 3 minutes) and put the oatmeal in a bowl. Add some honey, berries or protein powder to the oatmeal if you want to! It's very important to drink plenty of water, so just start in the morning ;)

Fruit and Berry Smoothie Smoothies are a very quick and easy options for breakfast because you can have them on the go! Just blend some berries of your choice, and some fruits maybe (I like a banana, some red currant, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries - and maybe some strawberries if we have any), plus some water, ice, or milk (you can also add protein powder if you want to). Then blend that all together in a blender, pour it in a tumbler (I call them sippy cups) and you're out the door! Quick and easy :)

*BONUS HOMEMADE GRANOLA RECIPE*
Heat oven to 175 degrees Celsius. Mix 2 cups oats, 1 cup neatly chopped almonds, 1 cup coconut flakes, and 1/2 cup raisins. In a different bowl, mix 1/4 cup honey with 1/2 cup water, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Mix it all together and spread over baking paper. Put in the oven for 20 minutes. When done, mix in 1/2 cup flaxseed. ENJOY ;)

Back To School: Fashion Essentials

Okay. There was this weird situation with my back to school tutorial that I promised you guys, so let's just hope I get that little situation figured out by the end of the week (or the start of next week, at least). Moving on to the actual point of this post ;)

So I shared my essentials for my school bag yesterday and today I will be telling you guys all about my fashion essentials for school. The deal is, I've worn a school uniform all through elementary and middle school (so, basically - my whole life) so let's all take a minute and cry for my sad school life :'(

Just kidding. So I've worn a school uniform for my whole life but I've still somewhat managed to develop a fashion sense. Well, this isn't really the point, but whatever. The point is that I feel like because I've had to deal with a school uniform for 8 years already I've really learnt to accessorize and add little details to your average outfit that just tie everything together.

1. Black Flats If I could, I would've put down brown flats (brown is my all-time favorite color for accessories) but my school dress code requires black shoes, so I don't really have a say in that... Anyways, I have yet to find my perfect pair of flats (all of the ones I have give me horrible blisters!) so if you know any comfy ones please tell me! But these are pretty much an essential in everyone's wardrobe. I mean, you can wear them with anything. I've really been lusting over the Tory Burch Reva flats lately, but people say they're such a pain to break in and I don't really know if I want to pay that much money for shoes that will hurt me, even if it's for a couple of days.

2. Colorful/Bright Headband Ever since I started watching Gossip Girl I, of course, have became obsessed with everything Blair Waldorf...so I went out and bought a ton of bright headbands. Best. Spur-of-the-moment purchase. Ever. I'm pretty darn sure I wear a headband 90% of the days I'm in school - they just add so much more to your average outfit!

3. Brown Cashmere Cardigan It gets pretty cold in Russia in the back-to-school months, so I think it's safe to say that any cardigan is a must. But. But. I absolutely adore brown cashmere cardigans (especially ones with little leather patches on the elbows!). I probably wear them every single day in the fall months!

4. Brown Riding Boots Now, don't get me wrong, not actual riding boots. I'm talking about those equestrian-style adorable boots we all see all over tumblr when the fall season rolls in. Anyways, I've been eyeing these Tory Burch Amanda riding boots for such a long time already and I really want to get them. Like, really soon :P

5. Grey Opaque Tights I wear skirts all the time. I live in them. I hardly ever wear jeans or shorts (mostly in the summer time), because I'm either in my loungewear or in my school uniform :P Anyways, as I said, it gets super cold where I live, and since I only really wear skirts, in the winter - it gets freezing. I probably have, like 30 pairs of grey opaque really thick tights (I call them my British boarding school tights :P).

6. Wool Checkered Scarf Okay, so I have this scarf at home, and I have no idea where it's from - I've had it for ages. It is so adorable and cozy - I just love it! Every time it gets cold - out comes my checkered wool scarf! Can't say enough good things about it!

Well, I hope you guys found this post somewhat helpful and interesting :) If I can get a faster internet access I will be doing more fun posts more often ;)

xoxo,
Liz

Back To School: School Bag Essentials

I finally got the video up and running on YouTube (I hope it works?)! It only took me two and a half days :P Soooo, who's excited for my school bag essentials??? Because I am ;)

I'm just going to hop right into it without any further rambling/explanation!

1. Lilly Pulitzer 17 Month Agenda or any agenda for that matter. I will make a post on how to organize your Lilly agenda when school starts for me, so I won't talk about it much here. All I can say is - it is amazing! It is a bit pricey for an agenda ($26), but I totally think it's worth every penny! Anyways, agendas just help you stay so much more organized and they're totally cute to pull out of your bag (also a convo starter!).

2. Kindle I am a total book worm, so when they give us free time in class - out comes my Kindle Touch. I did a review on this in one of my previous posts, so I won't talk about this much either. All I can say is that it is amazing and you should totally consider buying one if you're into reading and such.

3. Pencil Case This is kind of a no-brainer, but I had to include it since it is a must-have. Of course, the pencil case has to be full of colorful pens and post-its, as well as Crayola markers :P Yes, I doodle in class. A lot. And don't tell me you don't because I know we all do :P

4. Phone and Earphones This is also a no-brainer, but it is a must-have, nonetheless. We aren't allowed to use phones during school hours, but I stay after school for quite a bit (and I mean, come on, we all know we still use our phones during school hours) and I find that I need to use my headphones to listen to music after school. Yep. Nothing much I can say about that.

5. Lipbalm or any kind of lip product. I am obsessed with lip products and I always have at least 3 on hand (yep. I'm that obsessed). I really don't have a preference when it comes to lip balms but I do like the EOS ones.

6. Vaseline/Aquaphore Healing Ointment My skin constantly has something wrong with it (usually dry patches) so I absolutely need to carry Vaseline (or something of the sort) with me at all times! It's such a life-saver!

7. Body Splash/Perfume I am super paranoid of always smelling bad so I always have some sort of perfume or body splash with me all the time! Just don't spray it on in class (yeah, I've sprayed perfume on in class. Worst. Decision. Ever.).

8. Gum or Listerine Strips This is pretty self-explanatory - everyone needs gum. Just don't pull it out in front of everyone and when someone asks you where you got it say...just run. Haha ;)

9. Extra Pair of Tights This one is pretty weird, but just let me explain. I wear skirts to school pretty much every day (I'm more of a skirt/dress girl) and I usually wear tights under, especially in the colder months. Anyways, my tights always rip and I'm constantly in the situation where I need tights. So my Mom gave me the idea of carrying an extra pair with me all the time ;)

I'm pretty sure this is it... I can't really think of anything else. Yep, hope you enjoyed! Love you girlies :D

Liz

Back To School: Studying Tips

Now that school's actually coming closer and closer the excitement is kind of wearing off and, honestly, I really don't want to study >_< But. I cannot wait to get all crazy organized again! In this post I will be sharing some tips and tricks that some of you (I hope) may find helpful when it comes to studying :)

1. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. I know, this is such a hard one. And don't tell me you're not a procrastinator, because I know you are. We all are. We all log onto Facebook instead of opening our textbooks and studying, and then a week later you essay is due and you haven't even started working on it. Procrastination is a big no-no, and if you learn to overcome it you will earn MAJOR brownie points. What I do to help avoid procrastination is this: first, study for 30 minutes, then let yourself do something else for 10 minutes, and continue studying from where you left off. Repeat the cycle 'till you go insane from all the schoolwork ;)

2. Enjoy being organized. Of course you won't want to stay organized with all those ugly grey binders you use for classes! To help make studying and organizing more fun and enjoyable - use colorful school supplies, decorate your notebooks and binders, and have fun doing it! Also, writing your notes down in fun colors makes them more fun to look over! Just make sure you're not handing them in beforehand ;)

3. Plan in out. I cannot stress enough on how helpful planners are! Some schools provide planners (mine does, but I still use my own), some don't - but that doesn't mean you can't stay organized! Planners are essential for keeping track of your assignments and events that are happening! And, they're some insanely cute ones you can find! Helps being organized more fun ;)

4. Light a candle. Make studying more enjoyable. Whether it's playing some music in the background, lighting a nice-smelling candle, or munching on some peanut butter and apples - find a way for yourself to love studying.

5. Cut yourself some slack. If you got an A on your final project for Chemistry you can either forget all about it and carry on or reward yourself. The reward doesn't have to be a $500 pair of boots - small things count too! Go out and have a nice dinner with your best friend or take a relaxing hot bath - you choose! When you reward yourself after reaching some goal, you actually have something to look forward too after all those hours of studying!

6. Prioritize. Sometimes you've got to choose between catching up on Pretty Little Liars or taking that extra bit of time to do school work. And if you make the wrong choice it will affect you later on, in one way or another. Finish the school work first - you can always watch PLL later! Because in the end, do TV shows count on your college application. No.

Liz

Back To School Countdown Series!

Since I've been promising so many back to school tutorials and posts and never actually ended up doing them I decided to do this. School starts for me in exactly a week, and I know some of you may have already went back or some still have some time, but whatever. Anyways, to keep myself motivated (and as a little surprise to you guys) I decided to post every single day this week. But not just any posts - back to school-related posts. WHO'S EXCITED???

Today, unfortunately, I was out of town so I couldn't really do anything special, so this little announcement will serve as today's post.

So now that you guys know what's going on I kind of want to ramble for a bit.

I went workout gear shopping today and got some 5 pound dumbbells and a new yoga mat - mine was all torn and dirty! Then I went for a walk in the city and got so freaking hot because I had my A&F hoodie and my Hunter boots on! I came back home with my t-shirt completely soaked! Gross, I know, but I guess that served as a good workout! >:D On another random note, I ran out of my Bath and Body Works candles! :( So sad! Well, I guess someone will have to go shopping this weekend, then! ;D Oh, and do you guys have any good TV shows that I can watch, because I really can't wait 'till Gossip Girl starts again and I can't find a good place to watch Geordie Shore (go check it out - it's hilarious!!! But I'm pretty sure it's R-Rated or something :P)! I've seen Pretty Little Liars, and honestly, I'm kind of over it now... Yeah, so if you know a good website to watch Geordie Shore or just any good shows that I can buy in general - TELL ME!

Oh, b-t-dubs, the picture is totally unrelated to this post - it was just so cute I had to post it! I've been really kicking some equestrian booty in my dressage lessons and I'M LOVIN IT. And I'm pretty sure the picture is from this amazing tumblr.

Haha, okay, this was way weird and tmi, but oh well.

Cooking With Pony Mama: Peanut Butter and Chocolate (or "Reese's") Cookies

Who's excited to bake some more delicious cookies? This girl right here is! Yes, this is another cooking blog post, yes, it is about cookies, and no, there are no step-by-step pictures (sorry about that, I tried to take them but they didn't turn out well *sadface*). This recipe also comes from the really really old Betty Crocker cookbook that I got from my mom who got it from her great-grandma.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 6 oz. chocolate chips (optional)
DIRECTIONS: Mix together the shortening, peanut butter, sugars, and egg thoroughly. Sift together and stir in the flour, baking powder, soda, and salt and stir the dry mixture in. Chill dough (I didn't find it necessary, but you can if you want to). Roll into balls size of large nuts. Place 3" apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Flatten with fork dipped in flour - crisscross. Bake until set.

TEMPERATURE: 375 degrees Celsius (about 190 Fahrenheit)

TIME: Bake 10 to 12 min.

AMOUNT: About 3 doz. 2 1/2" cookies

So that's it! Really simple and easy (as always), yet so delicious! All of them were gone from the cookie jar in under an hour! I will be baking some Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies tomorrow, so expect a recipe on that sometime next week :) Will also be doing a back-to-school hair tutorial tomorrow, so that should be up soon as well ;) SO PUMPED!

Update On My Majestic Life: Back To School Ramble!

This picture is totally random, but I think it's so cute and casual... Yeah, I like it, ahah

Why hello there :) A lot of things have been happening lately and I thought it would be fun to do one of these updates again.

First of all, it's back to school season. WHO'S EXCITED???!!! This chika right here is! I've always been the one girl who's super duper nerdy and loves school. And here I am again. But then it gets to the middle of the school year and there's so much stress and such...and I hate it. But oh well. That's just Liz. School starts on the 28th for me, which is a Tuesday, because on Monday it's Open House... So technically Monday is the first day of school, except it's not - we just get our schedules and meet our teachers, etc... But then there's New Family Orientation next Saturday which I am so excited to go to! Basically, you're supposed to go there if you're new, but I really don't care, so I'm taking my best mate Drea to go and hopefully meet some hot new boys ;) 'Cause we all know that's what I'm actually excited for to go back to school :P

Another thing that I wanted to talk about is my new blog design. Ever since I first saw Gossip Girl (last year around this time) I always thought of myself as a Blair Waldorf (haha, I know) and being preppy and wearing headbands everyday and such, but I've always been more on the trendy, casual, laid-back side of fashion... But recently I have been so into preppyness! Like, no kidding! And I think my new background and font on the blog is pretty preppy... Yeah? No? Oh well. Anyways, I hope you guys like it ;)

I am kind of dreading Science this year... I have the same teacher I had last year and we just don't seem to understand each other and I always fail at projects. And now I know I'm going to fail at Science this year... Science is one of the only classes that I can use my laptop in and it totally distracts me! I know Science really well and it's pretty easy for me, so I just kind of zone out on tumblr, and, I mean, I always study before test and such, but I just end up failing at projects... Okay, whatever, I'm rambling now.

Anyways, hope you guys liked this little rambly update on my life... These are, like, the most fun posts to do for me, because I can just ramble on and on and on ;)

Most Worn Summer Things Tag!

"OHMIGOSH I can't wait to share a fun post with you guys this week!!!"
AHAHAHHAHAHAH no.
I know... I come with a tag. Again. But these are just so fun I couldn't resist! And I am doing something fun for the blog tomorrow ;)

So, basically, a lot of beauty gurus on YouTube have been doing this tag lately and I thought it would be a fun way to, kind of, end the summer. Sad face... Actually, HAPPY FACE! I can't wait to go back to school and...yeah, just back to school!

1) Most worn nail polish This was very hard to pick for me, 'cause I don't think I have a favorite summer nail polish color... But I do tend to go for neon colors more in the summer time, so I picked China Glaze's "Shocking Pink". It is an amazing neon pink color that just pops on tan skin!

2) Most worn hair product That would have to be my Dove Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse (or pretty much any mousse, for that matter). I mentioned it in my "July Favorites" post, so I won't talk much about it here, but it is amazing if you already have wavy/curly hair that is pretty darn frizzy!

3) Most worn bag For this summer, it would have to be my Longchamp Le Pliage tote in Large (I have the Chocolate color) that I just got before the summer started and I've been using it ever since! Usually, I'd go for a much, much smaller bag (pretty much a clutch) but I've just been toting around tons of stuff lately and I absolutely adore the Longchamp!

4) Most worn shoes For two summers straight already, my Tommy Hilfiger flip flops have been on my feet 24/7! Because they aren't that plastic-y material they aren't too casual to wear them out (not just to the beach), but they give any outfit you wear a very summer-y, laid back vibe! I'm going to have to get some new ones next summer, though, because the soles on mine are all worn-off already!

5) Most worn accessories I'm not a huge fan of accessories...I don't know, it's just something about them that I find so...so... Ugh, I don't even know! I just don't like them, okay? Anyways, the only accessories I wear in summer rather than my everyday ring and my pearl earrings are friendship bracelets. I make them myself, since I don't really see the point in buying them if I can just make them, and no one gives them to me, 'cause obviously I don't have any friends (haha ;P).

6) Most worn clothing item DEFINITELY my white Abercrombie shorts! They aren't jean - they're cotton - which makes them so much more comfortable and less hot to wear! I also find that because they're white they add more of a preppy look ;) But, unfortunately, I haven't been wearing them the past couple of weeks - they got too big for me :( On the other side, WOOT WOOT I went a size down haha ;D

7) Most worn foundation This is most definitely, 200%, my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Compact foundation - it's the only one I wore in the summer! I know, I know what you're thinking...a foundation. in summer. But it's not really a foundation! If you apply it with your fingers it just blends into your skin and gives you the most natural, glowy look! It's very good for dry/combination skin, and if you like very little coverage this foundation is perfect!

8) Most worn blush and/or bronzer I didn't really wear blush that much this summer, but if I did, I wore the Tarte Cheek Stain in the color "Tipsy". It smells amazing, the color is beautiful, and it looks so natural - what's not to love? And, actually, I didn't wear any bronzer this summer! Weird, I know, but I tend to wear bronzer more in the winter months and I just don't like caking on powder on my face when it's 100 degrees out.

9) Most worn lip product I have been wearing my YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain (which I also talked about in my July Favorites) in the shade 12 and the shade 5 all the time. It is, literally, the only lip product (except chapstick) that I used! I won't talk about them much, but I'll just say, even though they are a bit pricey, I love them so much I think I'm going to collect all of them. No joke. #YOLO

10) Most worn mascara Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express Waterproof mascara. Definitely not the best (it's actually not that waterproof), but a good one! I actually only wore it all the time because it was the only waterproof mascara that I had... But it made my lashes really long and thick...and very black, too.

11) Most worn eyeshadow This was the easiest one to think of - I only wore this one eyeshadow for the whole summer! And, of course, it was the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadow in the shade 82 Émerviellé (aaaaand I mentioned this in my What's In My Travel Makeup Bag post). It is the perfect shimmery gold color - I love it! I use it every single day on my lid and I'm not even halfway through the pot! UH-MA-ZAYN

Hope you guys enjoyed! And, guess what?, I TAG YOU! :P

Cooking With Pony Mama (a.k.a. Liz): Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hello there my little chefs ^^ Today I bring to you my favorite recipe of chocolate chip cookies! YAY! Who's ready to do some cookin'??? So basically, I woke up at 6 AM today because of the friggin rooster (WHO has a rooster in my neighborhood?!) and I couldn't go back to sleep... So I decided to bake some cookies. Basically, 99.9% of the time when I bake anything - I use my great-great grandma's Betty Crocker cook book. It is simply amazing! The recipes (as you will see later) are very easy and don't require any special ingredients! Anyways, hope you guys enjoy and let me know how they turn out if you decide to make them!

Okie-dokie, let's get started.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3/4 cup sugar (half brown, half white)
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/8 cups sifted flour
  • 1/4 tsp soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup cut-up walnuts (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

Mix together thoroughly the shortening, sugar, egg, and vanilla. In a separate bowl, soft together the flour, soda, and salt. Pour the dry ingredients into the first bowl and stir in. Mix the chocolate chips and walnuts, if using, into the dough.

Drop rounded teaspoonfuls about 2" apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake until delicately browned - cookies should still be soft. Cool slightly, then remove from baking sheet.

TEMPERATURE: 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius)

TIME: Bake 8 to 10 minutes

AMOUNT: About 3 doz. 2" cookies

The cookies taste delicious, this is by far my (and my family's!) favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe! I love baking these for the holiday season, but since that's still far away, you can enjoy these with some ice cream (LOVE!).

Sorry I didn't have any step-by-step pictures, but I feel like this recipe is so easy you don't really need them!

Ten Tips: Before, After, and During a Workout

Holler! I know, I know, I promised a fun post sometime this week, and believe me, it's coming! Just hadn't had enough time to really work on a fun project for my blog... I've been working out 24/7. And I've been loving it. I've been a workout freak ever since last year, but I've never thought of myself as a "pro" in the workout "area". Now that I've been working out so much and doing a bunch of research on fitness and health lately, I feel like I can share some tips and tricks on working out with you guys :)

1. Just Do It This is a quite famous saying, but it's only because it is so true! If you want to get/stay fit and toned - just get off your lazy bum and DO IT. Don't sit on your computer all day and look at gorgeous skinny girls on tumblr, don't just dream about being fit - BE FIT. There are really no excuses when it comes to not being able to workout. You don't need to pause Pretty Little Liars to get up and do some squats or crunches, and 20-30 minutes of jogging a day is plenty! All you need to do to work out if JUST DO IT.

2. Fuel Up! It is so incredibly important to have a good hearty meal before a workout! If you don't eat a good healthy meal you won't have a lot of energy to use, so you probably won't get a good and enjoyable workout! The meal doesn't have to be huge or very high in any vitamins/minerals - a simple snack is enough! Just grab a bottle of water and a toast with some strawberry and banana cut up in-between - and you're ready to go!

3. Slow and Steady It's good if you're excited and enthusiastic about working out, but don't go over the board! It's important to go slow when working out! Don't just go for a run and set a goal to run 7 miles on your first jog in a couple of months! Set realistic goals - that way you won't be discouraged after a workout. Take it slow and, I promise, you'll see a difference!

4. Take It Outside Your fitness routine doesn't exactly have to be in the gym or in your house - if the weather is nice, why not go outside?! You can easily use the great outdoors in your advantage! Jogging is always nice on a breezy, sunny day, and using the bench to do some triceps dips is so much more fun than using your bed!

5. Go Get You Some Sweats If you're determined to start a fitness routine - start with the right gear! Wearing a supportive sports bra, some yoga shorts, a nice pair of tennis shoes and a good pair of quick-dry socks is so much more comfortable than wearing your Victoria's Secret PINK sweatpants, a huge baggy t-shirt, some cotton socks, and your old gym shoes from middle school. Just invest in some key pieces that you know you'll wear and use all the time and stay comfy!

6. Protein Love If you want to build muscle (like moi) after a workout it is very important to eat a high-protein meal 30-60 minutes after! Good protein sources are beans, lean beef, seafood, white-meat poultry, dairy, and eggs. Make sure to eat after your workout, too, even if you're not trying to bulk up!

7. Red Light! Know when to stop. When working out it is crucial to stop when your body is sending you the signal. If you feel like fainting, or you just can't do it anymore - DON'T. Do not overwork your system and make sure to listen to your body.

8. Take a Break In order to build muscle it is very important to give your body at least one day a week off. That day is needed for those muscles to recover, so it will be possible to continue to build them. Just set one day a week where you're just resting and not working out!

9. Commit! If you made a fitness plan and decided to do it - STICK TO IT. As I said earlier, there's always time to workout if you really want to, even though sometimes it might seem hard to. Just commit to the plan you chose and reward yourself with a little something (that Michael Kors watch you wanted, maybe?) after reaching your goal.

10. Go Clean This one is pretty self-explanatory, but so many people don't do this. Take your makeup of before working out. Concealer, foundation, powder, and primer can block your pores - so when you sweat, the sweat gets blocked inside, resulting in blackheads and whiteheads after! Ew. 'Course, you can slap on some mascara before the gym to look cuter for that special someone, but come on. NO ONE looks cute in the gym. If you want to look cute - go shopping, not to the gym.

Hope you enjoyed! And have a great workout. Oh, and to conclude with my favorite russian quote that I live by: "Healthy body - healthy soul" ;)

Liz

Things Happen

Things happen. People disappoint. 100 year old vases break. Pets pass away. Must-have products get discontinued. Summers end. Things just happen.

My trip to America recently got canceled, which is one of the things that inspired me to type up this little post in the middle of the night. And what I've learned from these little disappointments in life is that if it happened - it was meant to be. Life goes on, and no matter how bad the situation seems at the moment - it's not the end of the world.

Just remember, no matter what's happening to you, it will get better, you'll live with it, everything's going to be alright :)

I'm really sorry about this pointless little post but maybe it brightened your day :) (I hope?)

I spent the whole day shopping with my Momma and sister, and we just got back from the mall, so I didn't really have time to work on anything huge or fun for my blog :S

But I promise, I'll have a very fun post up some time this week ;)

Back To School: First Day Of School 2012 Outfit

Oh, hai! How's it going? I am so very excited to present to you the very first post from my back to school series! I absolutely love school, and yes, I am one of those crazy people who can't wait 'till school starts, but then whine about it being so boring and depressing in the middle of the school year... But since I'm staying in Moscow now and not going to America (sad-no-shopping-face), and have nothing else to do, I am ready and pumped for the back to school season!

Today I've put together five outfits that I think someone might wear on the first day back to school. I wear a school uniform to school (sigh), so I absolutely loved putting these outfits together for those of you who are more fortunate than me :/ A helpful tip that I would love to share with you guys on putting together outfits for back to school is put together three of your favorite outfits, eliminate one, and wear your favorite one on the second day back to school, not on the first one. So, on the first day back to school everyone is going to be wearing their best outfit, and your going to be wearing a nice one too, but then on the second day everyone's going to be wearing their usual stuff, but you're going to be the one rocking your best outfit!

1. Girly Girl The first outfit that I put together is pretty girly and on the more casual side. I love mixing neutrals (brown bag, black jewelry) - it's not something people usually do, but I think it gives the outfit a more effortless look! The simple mustard dress is a gorgeous transition piece for the Summer/Fall season and the white lace TOMS give the outfit a very girly and innocent vibe that I adore! The brown satchel is also very very cute and comfortable for school!

2. Edgy This outfit is more on the edgier side (well, at least for me) and it's not really something I'd be wearing, but I think some of the pieces are also very trendy now - the cross bracelet and the ear cuff give it a hard rock vibe and the maroon jeans add some color and are great for fall! I cannot speak enough good words about the Jeffrey Campbell Litas - they are AMAZING. I'm planning on getting some for Christmas as a present to myself - everyone says they're very easy and comfy to walk in since the wedge is so huge, the actual heel ends up being pretty small! The denim vest also gives this look a rocker-ish vibe and is also a pretty trendy and versatile piece.

3. Trendy and Chic This outfit is definitely something I'd wear (maybe not on the first day in 8th grade, but...) - it's so me! The warm-toned/gold accessories are a must for me - the MK tortoise print watch has been on my wish list for months now, but I just can't justify getting it (I never wear watches!). The "arm candy" thing is a huge trend right now - the MK watch and some wrap bracelets is all you need! - the peplum feature on the dress is discreet and school-appropriate, yet not that noticeable, and the killer wedges are to die for! To pull the otherwise pretty neutral outfit together I decided to add this amazing burgundy Mulberry tote - so fall-appropriate and classic! LOVE this outfit.

4. Simple and Classy This outfit is my absolute favorite out of all! It's so Blair Waldorf - the headband, pop of color, the blouse - I ADORE IT! This is what I'd be wearing on the first day (or every day, for that matter) back to school if I didn't have a uniform (sad crying face)! The bow-blouse is a must-have in my wardrobe (I probably own, like, 6 of these) and the unique and very flattering shape of the simple black skirt makes the outfit more put-together and classic. Another staple for me are the simple stud pearl earrings - I never take mine off! They're barely noticeable, yet make me feel so full of class! And don't even get me started on the brown Mulberry Alexa tote... I so so so want it! But I just went on a bag-shopping spree and I just can't buy another $1,500 tote :P The red flats also add a nice pop of color and are comfy to walk around all day in school! This is basically me in an outfit. Love. Adore. Can't live without.

5. Comfy and Casual This outfit is definitely something I'd wear on a laid-back weekend, not to school, but that's just Liz (I always over-dress). I know about 90% of the people in my school would probably consider this a back to school outfit... Yeah, that was pretty pointless. Anyways, the Wayfarers, the TOMS, the leather backpack - everything about this outfit is so laid back and casual - it's adorable! Unfortunately, I don't look cute in these kind of outfits... The polka-dot cream sweater and the distressed jeans are so comfortable for that first day back to school when you just want to stay at home and watch Pretty Little Liars, not wake up at 6 AM and go to school. So the shades will also help you cover up those dark circles that I know you'll have on that first day back to school ;)

Anyway, I had so much fun putting these together - they actually gave me some really good ideas! Good luck on your first day back to school and have a happy August everyone!

Oh, and the special announcement is still coming!

Event Planning: Birthday Party

Why hello there my cute little pigtails! :P What have you been up to lately? Oh, me? Thanks for asking, I've been busy planning my birthday party. When is my birthday you ask? 7th of October. You know I love planning ahead, what else can I say *.*

Oh! Almost forgot. Disclaimer time! I am by no means an expert in event planning or anything of the such! I'm just sharing some tips and tricks that I think are helpful when it comes to birthday party planning :)

The number one tip I can give you is plan ahead. You do not want to be panicking, rushing, and trying to plan it all on the week of your birthday. My birthday is in about two months, and I'm almost done with the planning. But, of course, I tend to plan ahead in everything...

Okay, now that we have a couple of months on our hands to plan, here's a little step-by-step for you :)

1. Vas Happenin? First of all, you need to decide what you actually want to do for your birthday. It can range anywhere from a spa get-together to a huge keg party at your place. Just have an outline of what you want to do, and then move on to step two.

2. Who? So you know what you want to do for your party. Now you need to figure out who you want to invite. This one is the hardest for me - it's so difficult to decide who to invite and who it's okay to leave out! Of course, you want to include your best friends, maybe your boyfriend, family, random people... It all depends on what you want to do.

3. Where? Next, you need to find a venue. You already have an invite list and you know what exactly you want to do - now you just need to find where to do it! Find a specific place - restaurant, club, bowling center or amusement park - and go figure it all out. Of course, it's better if you're going some place you're familiar with, but it's okay to try something new - just be sure it's what you and your friends/relatives like!

4. :$ Another thing you want to do when planning is have a budget. Do you want to go all out and fly all of your friends to Paris or keep it cheap and host a party at your place with your own food and drinks? It's your decision! Just make sure to stick to the budget you decided on - it can get overwhelming at times.

5. You're Invited! You have the venue, the money, the guest list... What else? My favorite part of birthday parties...the invitations. The way you decorate and design the invitations all depends on what the theme of the party is, of course. Just be sure to include what you're going to be doing, where, when, what to bring, and how to dress!

6. Bits and Pieces The little details are usually planned out a week or two before the event... The hair, makeup, outfit, party favors (if any), etc. And, of course, it all depends on the venue and the type of party you're hosting!

Hope you guys found this somewhat helpful! I, personally, can't wait 'till my birthday party! Not to drop a hint or anything, but it might be very. very girly. And exclusive for my BFFs :*

Oh, and stay posted for a very exciting and interesting post sooner or later!

If you guys have any fun ideas for birthday parties, please share them with me - I can never think of anything!

xoxo,
Liz
