Quick Tip: Get Super Soft Hair!

Do you have frizzy, dry, moisture-wicked hair? Do you envy women with soft, luscious, locks? Does this sound like a cheesy ad to you? Then you've come to the right spot!

In all seriousness, I have super dry hair 99% of the time - mostly because of the city water - and I have yet to find something that actually makes my hair manageable and smooth. Until about last week. I use my Macadamia Oil leave-in hair treatment about twice a week (it's basically a super-moisturizing leave-in conditioner...well, you leave it in for a couple of minutes and then wash it out), which helps my hair a lot, but it's still not enough. So I decided to leave the treatment in over night instead of washing it out in the shower. Basically, the tip is - leave in a moisturizing hair treatment over night (put your hair in a shower cap) and wash it out in the morning. It leaves your hair so much more moisturized and just...GORGEOUS.

Anyways,
I'll be back soon :)

January 2013 Favorites

The first month of this year went by extremely fast. It makes me happy, but really sad at the same time... So many good and bad things had happened in my life so far and I am definitely looking forward to 2013! January has been a very stressful month for me, but I've spent the past couple of days just relaxing and spending time with friends and family, and I think I'm getting back in the groove of things!

MAC "Blacktrack" Gel Eyeliner I finally went out and bought this when I was in America, and I've been using it every single day since. Well, except for the weekends. I use it with a simple angled eyeliner brush - it applies so smoothly, is super-black, and lasts the whole day! Plus, it only takes about 15 seconds on each eye - mega time saver in the mornings! It's so fun to play up your everyday-self with all of the different looks you can achieve by just using this one product. LOVE.

MAC "Carbon" Eyeshadow After I apply the gel eyeliner in the mornings - I let it set for a couple of seconds and then take another, slightly thicker, angled eyeliner brush and gently pat the black eyeshadow over the eyeliner. I just feel it makes the whole look more put-together and matte, plus the eyeliner lasts longer!

Neutrogena SkinClearing Oil-Free Foundation I've heard so many good things about this foundation from beautybaby44 on YouTube (she's amazing - go check her out!), so when I went all out in Ulta one day - I bought this foundation along with the matching powder. The powder works pretty good too, but the foundation just pretty much stole the spotlight for me. It completely prevented all of my breakouts (my skin is the clearest it's been in a while!), it gives great coverage (just enough for me), the finish and feel is amazing - there just aren't enough good things I can say about this product! If you can get it - definitely go out and buy it! My mom actually told me that she used it in High School too and she loved it as well :P

Maybelline "The Rocket" Mascara I don't normally use volumizing mascaras, simply because I've just always wanted more length than volume, but I decided to try something new this time. And I am so glad that I did, because this mascara works miracles! It gives you volume, length, doesn't clump, and lasts a long time! And the drugstore advantage always helps.

Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm I've also heard a ton of stuff about this lipbalm from people on YouTube and just everyone in general. Again, I was in Ulta, and I saw this and the first thing that ran through my mind was YOLO. So I bought it (and ended up spending hundreds of dollars at Ulta...whatever.). And I have no regrets. This lip balm is the best thing that has ever happened to my lips. No joke. Even better than the YSL lip stains (I swear by those). Yeah. So go get you some Jack Black lip balm.

"I Can Only Imagine" by David Guetta (feat. Chris Brown & Lil Wayne) I've only been listening to this song for the last couple of days (I rediscovered it while listening to my iPhone on shuffle), but I know that I'll be listening to it a ton the rest of this month and probably most of February. I'm obsessed with this kind of music right now, and I mean c'mon, who doesn't love them some Chris Brown?!

French Toast Just putting it out there - I make super healthy french toast! *ekhem recipe coming up ekhem* I basically just use olive oil instead of butter, use 1 egg + 1 egg white instead of 2 eggs, whole wheat bread instead of white bread...and...that's all I can remember for now, but I'll post a recipe soon, so be on a lookout for that *winkwink*! Anyways, I've been eating french toast for breakfast probably 4-5 days out of the week - it's super easy, quick, and delicious!

Michael Kors "Jet Set" Tortoise Watch My dad got me this watch as my...well, technically *pre-Christmas* present, but I just call it my Christmas gift from him. I've wanted it for probably more than a year and I was so happy when I got it!!! I've been wearing it every day since, and I kind of feel bad, because I also got a Marc Jacobs watch from my grandma, but I've only worn it once - I love my MK so much!!! It's just so classic, not in-your-face blingy (but still has rhinestones), and tortoise - ME IN A WATCH!

I will try to post pictures of the products and such over the weekend - I've been getting home too late for natural lighting!

11 Classic Books Everyone Should Read

I love reading books. At least 50% of my time is spent reading. I mostly like novels and fiction, but sometimes (VERY rarely) I opt for something totally out of my comfort zone. Recently I've had the urge to read more classic books that "everyone must read", just so I can have my own opinion on them, and from researching a bit online and just plain asking around I came up with this list of 10 classic books that everyone should read.

  1. "Slaughterhouse-Five" by Kurt Vonnegut
  2. "The Catcher In The Rye" by J. D. Salinger
  3. "Nicholas Neckleby" by Charles Dickens
  4. "The Great Gatsby" by Scott Fitzgerald
  5. "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" by Ken Kessey
  6. "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen
  7. "Nineteen Eighty-Four" by George Orwell
  8. "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde
  9. "To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee
  10. "The Bell Jar" by Sylvia Plath
  11. "A Separate Peace" by John Knowler
So far I've only read a couple ("The Catcher In The Rye", "The Great Gatsby", "Pride and Prejudice", and "To Kill A Mockingbird"), but I'm definitely reading all of them, because they serve as great conversation starters!

Quick Tip: Always Late?

WARNING: I'M SUPER HYPER

I warned you. Okay, now we can continue on.

I hate being late. I actually think I have some kind of paranoia that has to do with being late. Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration, but that's not the point. The point is - I hate being late.

I also have a friend who is always late (or at least, used to be). And when I was having breakfast with her and her mom one morning, I noticed that both of their watches have wrong times on them. Well, not completely wrong - they were 10 minutes late.

Surprisingly, this is all you have to do to prevent yourself from being late - set your watch 10 minutes late (ex.: if it's actually 10:10 - set your watch to 10:20). How does this prevent me from being late, you ask? Basically, if you arrive somewhere "10 minutes late" - you actually aren't late - you're on time! Your watch makes you think that it's 10 minutes later than it actually is - so that gives you more time ;)

I really hope this post made sense, because I honestly am just too hyper/tired/overwhelmed/lazy to check over it :P So let me know if you have any questions, so I can make everything clear :)

Liz

Update On My Majestic Life: Winter Break and School

Why hello there! Long time, no see! I'm really sorry I haven't been posting in quite a while - I tried queuing up some posts for the holidays, but then I just got off track and that is pretty much the end of the story. School started, too, which hasn't been helping. Honestly, not to ruin your mood or anything, but this week has not been the best for me. Okay, actually, it SUCKED. I got mad very fast at people and it was just plain and boring (I like a lot of drama, okay? #shameless)...

Moving on.

I will be posting regularly again, except without a set schedule. My goal is 2-3 posts a week, but I won't be just posting on certain days is what I mean. I'm planning on blogging both Saturday and Sunday this week, but I can't promise anything because I need to finish up some homework and projects for school...

arrived in the U.S.

Tag: This or That

I completely ran out of ideas on blog posts, so here's a little random tag for y'all :) IMMA GO SHOPPIN NOW

MAKEUP:
Blush or Bronzer? I'd say bronzer. I use it way more often than blush and...I just like it better okay???
Lip gloss or Lipstick? DEFINITELY lip gloss! I am a total lip gloss lover! I love everything about it - the sticky feeling, the color, just....ahhhh
Eye liner or Mascara? Mascara! Hardly ever use eyeliner.
Foundation or Concealer? Foundation. I rarely use concealer and I don't need that much coverage, so foundation does the job for me!
Neutral or Color eye shadow? Definitely neutral! MAC's "All That Glitters" is my favorite :)
Pressed or Loose eye shadows? Pressed! I've never ever used loose, and I just think it can just get messy and yeah...

Brushes or Sponges? Brushes :) Never use sponges.

NAILS:

OPI or China Glaze? OPI. I have no idea why I like OPI more than China Glaze, I just do, okay??? No, but really, I've actually never tried China Glaze so I kind of have to say OPI.
Long or Short? Short. Personally for me, I find long nails kind of gross and...my long nails always look disgusting.
Acrylic or Natural? Natural! I always associate acrylic nails with Botox... No offense to people who use/like Botox :/
Brights or Darks? Brights, definitely! Bright colors just put me into a good mood and make me feel all happy :)
Flower or No flower? Ew, NO FLOWER, hands down! I think flowers on your nails (no offense) look really tacky and...ghetto? I don't know, I just don't like them :P

BODY:
Perfume or Body splash? Perfume! They don't last long on me anyways, so needless to say, body splashes wear off in, like, 10 minutes.
Lotion or Body butter? Lotion, though to be honest, I always forget to use it :P
Body wash or Soap? Body wash, definitely! I find soaps really hard to use and just...no. Just no.
Lush or Other bath company?

FASHION:
Jeans or Sweat pants? Jeans! I think Karl Lagerfeld said this, but it basically describes my feelings for sweatpants...it's something along the lines of "if you're wearing sweatpants that means you lost control of your life"... :P I do wear sweatpants, but only when I'm super cold at home and have nothing to do.
Long sleeve or Short? Short sleeve, I'm pretty sure. I don't have the best arms (poo :( ) so wearing long sleeved shirts doesn't really help :P
Dresses or Skirts? Dresses!!! They're so easy to wear and style and so comfy!!! I LOVE DRESSES I LOVE THEM OKAY NO WORDS CAN DESCRIBE MY FEELINGS FOR DRESSES
Stripes or Plaid? Plaid :) So preppaaaaaay ;)
Flip flops or Sandals? Flip flops :) Never ever wear sandals, and my feet are just usually too wide and they always slide off the sandals :/
Scarves or Hats? Scarves, even though I don't wear them that often... But I never wear hats. So, scarves it is.
Studs or Dangly earrings? Studs :) Wear my pearls errday
Necklaces or Bracelets? Bracelets... I'm really awkward with styling necklaces, but I'm definitely getting some from BaubleBar this week, so... YAY
Heels or Flats? Flats :) I never wear heels, but I might start wearing them more often when going to special occasions
Cowboy boots or Riding boots? BOTH! I love both and wear both. So, both.
Jacket or Hoodie? Jacket...hoodies make me look fatter than I am :P
Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe? Neither? I don't shop in either of them, but if I had to choose, then F21 :) Their accessories are amazing, though.
Abercombie or Hollister? Abercrombie. Love their skirts!
Saks 5th or Nordstrom? Nordstrom! LOVEEE

HAIR:
Curly or Straight? Curly :) It looks better on me
Bun or Ponytail? Ponytail, my hair looks really weird in a bun...and ponytails are just faster to do for me.
Bobby pins or Butterfly clips? Bobby pins :) Aren't butterfly clips, like, 90s style?? ahha
Hair spray or Gel? Hair spray...even though I hardly ever use that, too...
Long or Short? Long...I think. I've never had the balls to cut my hair off, and I'm trying to grow it out :P
Light or Dark? Light :)
Side sweep bangs or Full bangs? Side sweep...unless you're Katy Perry or Zoey Deschanel ;)
Up or Down? Downnnnnnn

RANDOM:
Rain or Shine? Shine! I don't get people who are being all hipster with their "i love rain. it makes me feel so happy" or whatever. I hate it. I like the sun, okay? I like tanning. I like the ocean. I like the sun.
Summer or Winter? Both? I don't know, I love every season!
Fall or Spring? FALL. I HATE SPRING. I really hate it. It's useless. All of the snow just melts and it's gross and dirty. And everyone's all hormonal. I have no idea why... I just hateeeee spring.
Chocolate or Vanilla? Vanilla! I hate chocolate ice cream, but I love chocolate... But yeah, vanilla.
East coast or West coast? I can't answer this simply because I've never been to the West coast!! But I really want to say West coast because NYC is there... But yeah, I'm just going to say both :P

Thanks for taking your time and actually reading this :) I TAG YOU

xoxo,
Liz
